Gerald Pacovsky passed away at his home February 10, 2014 of natural causes. He was born at home near Roy, MT to Joe and Anna (Piskac) Pacovsky on September 30, 1922. In 1936 the family moved to the Gallatin Valley and farmed in the Four Corners area. He graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1940. He worked on the family farm, as a seasonal worker for the U.S. Forest Service, at Yellowstone Pine, and was a mail carrier for the Bozeman Post Office for many years. He retired in 1984. Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always more than happy to share his skill with anyone who wanted to join him. He also enjoyed frequenting local coffee shops. Though never married, family was important to him. Until recent years, he hosted a family reunion picnic every 4th of July that attracted aunts, uncles and cousins from all parts of the United States. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe. He is survived by: his brother Vernon of Bainville, MT; sister Patricia (Herman) VanderVos of Bozeman; nephews John Pacovsky of Omaha, NE, Mike Pacovsky of Plains, MT and Mark Pacovsky of Bainville, MT; and nieces Joyce VanderVos of Bozeman, Kathryn Campbell of Sacramento, CA, Jackie Campbell of Kalispell, MT and Theresa Stockford of Wahpeton, ND. At his request cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held later this summer. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the home of Howard and Joyce VanderVos (7070 Nash Rd., Bozeman, 59715). Memorials may be made in Gerald’s name to The Pioneer Museum, 317 W. Main, Bozeman, MT 59715 or to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1307, Bozeman, MT 59771.
