Gerald D. Morgan

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished…that will be the beginning.” Louis L’Amour. Jerry has passed this world to begin an eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ after several years of fighting Parkinson’s Disease. He passed away with his bride of almost 58 years by his side. Jerry will forever be remembered as a very real, vital presence in this world and had major impact on all who met him. As a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, friend, milk man, teacher, trapper, hunter, fishing guide, town judge, he imparted wisdom, guidance, hope, laughter, and most of all love. Jerry lived by these words; “For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16



Gerald Dean Morgan was born in Hollywood, California on June 22, 1935 to Neil Lucas Morgan and Mary Ann “Maude” (Wallace) Morgan. His brother, Tom, was born six years later. The family moved to Ennis, Montana when Jerry was 11 years old because of Jerry’s asthma. The creative genius of Neil and Maude inspired the “El Western” Motel that they built in Ennis in 1946 and it still welcomes fishermen, tourists and hunters today. Jerry graduated from Ennis High School in 1953 and went on to Montana State College graduating in 1957 with a degree in business. After graduation, he promptly moved to Houston, Texas to work for the Humble Oil Company. Jerry quickly found out he was not a company man or a Texan but brought back to Montana the best part of the Lone Star State, the love of his life, wife Harriet. They married in Smithville, Texas, on December 6, 1958 before leaving. Guaranteeing an audience for the rest of his life, Jerry returned to school and obtained a history teaching degree and began teaching in 1962 at Wilson Junior High in Bozeman, MT and then moved to Manhattan Junior High in 1969. He taught there until 1995. Jerry loved teaching to the very depth of his soul and was eager to return every Monday morning.



Jerry is survived by his wife Harriet Inez (Kuehn) Morgan; brother Tom (Geri) Morgan of Anceny, MT; children Daryl (Lee) Morgan of Mesa, AZ, D’Ann (Michael) Basta of Glendive, MT, Roxann (Robert) Miller of Denton, MT, Shannon (Christine) Morgan of Manhattan, MT, Connie (Richard) Mustill of Casper, WY. Jerry and Harriet have 9 grandchildren; Chase (Melody) Basta of Irving TX, Katherine (Joe) Nam of Lewisville, TX, Kristofer Miller of Hulbert Field AFB, FL, Emilee (Spencer) Burch of Paducah, KY, Bridger Miller of Great Falls, MT, Brielle Morgan of Manhattan, MT, Skyler Miller of Denton, MT, Angus Mustill of Casper, WY and Griffin Mustill of Casper, WY; and one great-grandchild, Everly Nam of Lewisville, TX and expecting a great-grandson in January 2017.
