George P. Cox, 93, of Bozeman went to be with his Lord and Savior and his wife Virginia #8220;Lover#8221; who joined the Lord in Heaven eighteen days earlier. George was born September 23, 1916 in Los Angeles, CA to James and Hazel (Timmerman) Cox. At the age of four his first job was selling newspapers on a street corner in LA for three cents each. At the age of nine his father#8217;s car was stolen. He and a friend found it downtown and drove it home. George started his orchestra at the age of 14 and played on a ship to Catalina Island and at a night club in Tempe, AZ. His band, The George Cox Orchestra, were in a movie in 1934 called #8220;The Cocaine Fiends#8221;. After graduating from Manuel Arts High School in LA, he went to work for Paramount Studios as a landscaper. George met Virginia Paderewski on a blind date and a year later they were married on May 4, 1940 in Yuma, AZ. The couple made their home in Little Rock, California, then Lancaster, California for the next fifty years, until 1997, when they moved to Laguna Hills, California. In 2001, the couple moved to Bozeman to be near their daughter, Barbara. George was a member of the Journey Church. He was such a hard working man and never complained. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, brother Edgar at age 18, and son James at age 43. Survivors include: his daughter Barbara Abernatha; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Lori Cox of Denver, CO and Larry and Carol Cox of Brecksville, OH; grandchildren, Darryl, Mark (Wendy), David (April), Christina (Scott), Ashley, Lindsey, Holly, Michael, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Brand, Silver, Faith, Ashley, Sage, Abigail, Audrey, Ryan, Mason, Madison, and Shayna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Virginia#8217;s name to Bozeman Deaconess Hospice, 931 Highland Blvd, Ste. 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Highgate Senior Living and Bozeman Deaconess Hospice.
