Frederick John Pitt, 72, of Bozeman, passed away April 21, 2009 in Bozeman, MT. He was born May 23, 1936 in Seattle, WA, the son of Edward Dawson and Bessie Florence Ena (Capern) Hiscock. He was raised and educated in Seattle. Fred married Patricia Carroll on July 21, 1955 in Seattle. She passed away on April 15, 1985. Fred worked most of his life for the Boeing Company as a Supervisor of Material#8217;s, retiring in 1994. Fred married Mary Ellen Skerritt on June 20, 1992 in Bozeman, MT. They lived in Enumclaw, WA, until 1999, when they moved to Bozeman, MT. In Washington, Fred was active in Alpine Art Guild. As a 4-H leader, he founded the 4-H dog club, teaching and training dogs. In Bozeman he was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, Montana Institute of the Arts, Parkinson#8217;s Support Group and the Bozeman Senior Center. Fred was an artist; as a painter he used the medium of water color, in later years enjoying pastels, he also enjoyed pottery. As well as his art, he enjoyed golfing and archery. Fred will also be remembered for his many interesting and funny letters to the editor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia, and his brother Jimmy. Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen of Bozeman; three daughters Shelley (Terry) Petersen of Buckley, WA, Cynthia (Terry) Riege of Kent, WA, Carolyn (Archie) Van Valkenberg, of Bonney Lake, WA; a son Brian Pitt of Auburn, WA; three brothers Peter (Mariela) Pitt of Kingswood, TX, Bill (Patsey) Pitt of Renton, WA, Tony (Patty) Pitt of Bullhead, AZ; grandchildren Laura Petersen, Kalen Petersen, Nicholas Riege, Jennifer Morrow and Wyatt Baird; great grandchildren Candace, Tristan, Emma and Gabriella; Mary Ellen#8217;s daughters Jacqueline Skerritt, Jeanette (John) Risteau both of Bozeman, MT; his mother-in-law Esther Ferguson of Bozeman, MT and nieces and nephews. A vigil service will be held 7 pm Monday, April 27, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
