Erik Walter Hobbs

Erik Walter Hobbs Erik Walter Hobbs departed this life at his home in Manhattan, Montana on November 17, 2011. He was 42 years old. Born in Hollywood, California on August 27, 1969, Erik moved with his parents to Mancos, Colorado at the age of 5. There he grew up, developed a love for the outdoors, and was active in Scouting. He achieved Eagle Scout status at age 16. Erik graduated from Mancos High School in 1987, and attended San Juan Basin Vocational-Technical School in Mancos for automotive mechanics training. He attained ASE Master Automobile Technician and Advanced Engine Performance Specialist accreditation and worked for many years for Ford dealerships in Colorado and Montana. Erik served on the Advisory Committee of the Bozeman High School Auto Program and as Ford AAA Auto Skills Competition Trainer for Bozeman High School from 2000 through 2007. Erik loved the West and enjoyed many outdoor activities, particularly fishing, snowmobiling, and boating. He was an avid reader. He liked sharing activities and his skills with family and friends, and particularly delighted in time spent with his granddaughter Charley Rae. Erik married his beloved Stephanie Ann Berg on March 5, 2008. Their enduring love was his primary support through his long battle with brain cancer. Erik was loving, kind, and compassionate. He will endure in the hearts and lives of his family: wife Stephanie Ann Hobbs; daughter Cody B. Hobbs and her daughter Charley Rae; sons Marine Lance Corporal Brandon E. Hobbs and John M. Jones; mother Suzanne C. Aikin and her husband Kent, father Roland L. Hobbs and his wife Barbara; brother Jeffrey R. Hobbs and his wife Wendy and son Bryce; and sister Tara S. Broderick and her daughters Kirsten and Kelsey. The family will observe a private memorial service.
