Emma Marie Sale, of Bozeman, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 2:45 PM. Marie was born April 27, 1915 in Dayton, Maryland, to William and Emma (Brown) Maloney. She had six brother's and one sister. Marie helped raise the six boys and many other Maloney and Brown children. Her mother Emma taught school and ran a family summer camp while her father William owned and operated a general store and ran the local US Post Office. Marie married Hubert P. Sale in Washington, DC, on May 27, 1947. Hubie was a Washingtonian and a graduate of Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, Class of 1928. He worked for the Veterans Administration as a lawyer until his death in 1961. Marie was a nurse for Group Health Associate of Washington, DC, when she met Hubie. They raised one child and upon Hubie's death Marie went to work as the Men's Clothing Manager for Woodward and Lothrop in Bethesda, Maryland. Later she managed the Men's Clothing Department for Lord and Taylor in Chevy Chase, Maryland. In 1979 Marie retired and moved to Winter Park, Florida where she lived until 2005. She moved to Bozeman and lived at Highgate Senior Living until her death. Marie is survived by her son Hubert P. Sale Jr. and his wife Eileen of Bozeman and her brother Joseph Maloney and his wife Doris of Washington, DC. Marie considered her sister's two children as her own. She is survived by her nephew, Preston DeVilbiss and his wife Lori and their two children, her niece Betty Flannigan and her daughter, and many other nephews, nieces and cousins. All looked to her as the family matriarch. Marie will be laid to rest along side her husband Hubie at Arlington National Cemetery in spring 2009, date TBD. Catholic services will be held at that time.
