Edythe Crouse

Edythe Crouse, 92, of Bozeman passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Gallatin Rest Home. Edythe was born on February 8, 1917 in Twin Bridges, Montana to Henry and Lucy Wehrle. They lived in a house on Wehrle Lane out of Twin Bridges. She rode her horse, Dolly, to the Lower Wisconsin Creek School. She attended Twin Bridges High School. She received a degree in Education from Western Montana College of Education in 1936. She met and married Martin Jacobson and they had a son, Larry. From her second marriage to Frederic Crouse, she had a daughter, Janet. She received a degree in Education in 1961 from Montana State University. With her degrees, she taught in many towns, including Ruby Creek, Ennis, three years in Kellogg, Idaho, four years in Fairfax, Virginia, and years at Irving, Emerson, and Willson Schools in Bozeman. She taught 6th grade in Bozeman for 17 years. Edythe also studied at the University of Idaho and University of Utah, and later at George Washington University in Virginia. Edythe was an honorary teacher and member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and was an Eastern Star for many years. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, playing bridge, solving crosswords, and spending time with her many friends and loved ones. She was a charter member of the Riverside Country Club. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Norris of Bozeman; son Larry Jacobson of Walkerville, MT. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederic, brother Milton Wehrle of Butte, and sister Lucelle Clark of Ocean Park, WA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
