Edward Francis Galarus

Edward Francis Galarus passed away at home on October, 12, 2012. He was born February 5, 1922 in St. Clair, PA, Edward served stateside in the Army during World War II, eventually at Mount Rainier Ordinance in Washington State, where he met Muriel Evans, his soon to be wife and eternal love. Ed and Muriel were married in Las Cruces, NM on December 24th, 1945, and lived in Tacoma, WA, Norristown, PA and St. Clair, PA before settling down in Missoula. In Missoula, Ed worked for the Northern Pacific Railway From 1952 to 1957. He then was employed by DeFoe and Jenny Excavating until 1964, when he became a custodian for the Missoula County High Schools. He retired in 1986 after working at Sentinel High School and eventually at Big Sky High School. He was known by students, teachers and administrators as “smiling Eddie.” Ed moved to Bozeman in 2003 with his son and daughter Doug and Jana and granddaughter Rachelle. He adjusted well to Bozeman and particularly being a parishioner at Holy Rosary in Bozeman. He enjoyed life with his family in Bozeman, and gave hugs and kisses to granddaughter Lucy and grandson Michael before bedtime every night. Ed was a kind, thoughtful and spiritual man, and his family was blessed to have him. He was a beloved father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Ed was preceded in death by his mother Anna, father Frank, brother Mike, sister Mary, nephew Ron, nephew Mike, son Mike and his beloved wife, Muriel. Ed is survived by his son and daughter –in-law, Douglas and Jana, granddaughter Lucy, and grandson Michael, of Bozeman, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Rachelle and Charles Williams of Coeur d’Alene, ID, a nephew Albert Galarus in Florida, niece MaryAnne McCardle in Conshohocken, PA, niece Marie Galarus of Bradenton, FL, and numerous grand-neice’s and nephews and friends. A rosary service will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday, October 21, 2012 followed by a vigil service at 5:00pm at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Bozeman on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00am. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula on October 23, 2012 at 1:00pm.
