Donald LaVern Beeghly, 67, of Manhattan passed away peacefully at home May 9, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
Don was born February 10, 1955, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Lawrence and Shirley. He graduated from New Rockford High School in 1973. He moved to Bozeman in 1982, after some encouragement from his cousin, Mike. Don worked for Bozeman Ford, in the parts department, for 37 years. He retired in 2020.
Upon moving to Bozeman, Don joined a softball league and played for many years. He was also an avid bowler. He loved being up in the mountains, hunting with his father, cousins, Mike and Richard, and their children. He enjoyed going up to the mountains to ride his four-wheeler around with the boys. He looked forward to their annual fishing trip every May at Fort Peck. Although he didn’t have children of his own, he was always taking Mike and Richard’s kids on adventures. He loved spending time with them and would often take them to see football games, basketball games, and hockey games. He was a second father to them, they cherish him deeply.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Shirley.
He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as his many friends from softball, co-workers from Bozeman Ford, and his friends from the Legion.
A special thank you to his cousins Steven Gabel, Jeremey Gabel, and Crystal Fiedler, as well as his great friend, Jamie Sacks, for providing round the clock care in Don’s final weeks. A heartfelt thank you to his care team at the Cancer Center and the numerous Hospice nurses that were involved in the final stage.
Forever in our hearts, forever in our minds.
