Dennis Ray Monroe Sr.

November 19, 1948 — October 13, 2021

Dennis Ray Monroe Sr. left this life on October 13, 2021, in Bozeman, MT. Born in Alton, IL he always considered Montana, specifically Stevensville, his home. Dennis lived a full and incredibly interesting life, which started in the construction field at an early age. He loved baseball and had an opportunity to play for a major league baseball team, however, he declined this opportunity and chose to remain close to home as a devoted husband and father. At the age of 21, he became a police officer for the City of San Bernardino, CA. Then later relocated to Arizona and was promoted to Sergeant with the Arizona Highway patrol, serving communities such as Parker and Flagstaff.

After departing from his career in law enforcement, Dennis returned to the construction industry obtaining his degree in building inspection technology. In 1994 he began his final career as a building inspector and concluded this life working for Missoula County. Although law enforcement and construction were his career aspirations, Dennis fulfilled many hobbies and passions as a radio disc jockey, news director, announced at rodeo functions and he had an exhilarating three-year stint as the owner/driver of race car number 318x; competing at the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA. Let us not forget his unforgettable sense of humor and his uncanny ability to make us all laugh or scream in terror.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife Catherine, brother Randy, his father Raymond, and beautiful mother Helen.

Dennis leaves behind his children Dennis Ray Jr., Sherrie, Terri, Krystal, Jason, Jennifer, and Justin. Dennis was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and included Taylor Jacobson as one of his own. Dennis had a deep love for his two purebred Golden Retrievers and constant companions; Gus and Sadie.

Dennis always felt that GOD had blessed him with living in Montana, and he was thankful to finish his life ending here in what he believed to be GOD’s country. He was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and was always looking to share his story of faith with others.

His advice to those still here: (suckers!) “Live life to the fullest, if there is something you really want to do…Do it now! Most importantly, put your trust and faith in GOD for everything!”

There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday October 24, 2021, at the Bitterroot Family Church in Stevensville, MT beginning at 1pm.
