Della Mae Johnson

Della passed away Thursday, May 21 at the age of 103. She was born September 21, 1905 in Sherburn, Minnesota to John and Minnie Nelson. Della attended Mankato College in Minnesota and after receiving her teaching certificate took the train to Roundup, Montana to start her teaching career. She returned to Minnesota and married Roald H. Johnson who served as Principal of Wayzata High School until his retirement. Della was active in her church, League of Women Voters and her PEO chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband Roald, her son Maj. Bruce W. Johnson USMC and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Mae Carisch (Gerald) of Bozeman, MT, her daughter in law, Etsuko Johnson of San Diego CA, grandchildren, Michael Carisch (Tamara) of Bozeman, MT, Heather Remitz (Rick) of Bozeman, MT, and Cristina Curvin (Peter) of Crested Butte, CO, and great grandchildren Luke, Gracie and Sylvia Carisch of Bozeman, Charlee Mae and Reed Remitz of Bozeman and Elizabeth and Patrick Curvin of Crested Butte. She will be truly missed by her family. Cremation has taken place and Della will be buried in Wayzata, Minnesota. Memorials can be sent to Childrens Cancer Research Fund, 7801 E Bush Lake Road, Suite 130, Minneapolis, MN 55439 The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman, Montana for all their wonderful care of Della the past four years. They are outstanding care givers.
