David Carl Rhodes, Jr., known as Dave or Buddy to most, passed away November 12, 2024.
Buddy was born December 17, 1976, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, to David Rhodes and Jude Simon. He was raised in Orange, PA, and spent most of his time in the woods behind his mom’s house in Orange. During high school he played football as a tailback and helped his team win the 1994 State Football Championship before graduating from Dallas High School in 1995. Following high school, Buddy attended East Stroudsburg University on a football scholarship, after which he attended ITT Tech for two more years to study Autocad.
Buddy met the love of his life in 1993 during algebra class. They always stayed in touch over the years and reconnected in 2004. They then married August 26, 2011, in New Jersey. Buddy worked for Horizon Home Services before taking over the business and cultivating it into something of his own. Shortly after, he established DR Contractors in 2007, his successful home improvement and maintenance company. When Buddy wasn’t hard at work providing for his family, he enjoyed spending time in nature camping, hunting, flyfishing, dirt biking, and snowmobiling. He also loved games, from chess and playing pool, to taking up all our internet bandwidth with his XBox. Buddy was a big fan of electronic music and started DJing from a young age. His love for music was passed on to his girls along with his passion for dancing. When he wasn’t listening to EDM, he enjoyed Pink Floyd. He also was interested in cryptocurrency, specifically XRP, and the stock market. But what Buddy enjoyed the very most was spending time with his daughters and loving wife.
Buddy was preceded in death by his father, David Rhodes, and his grandparents, Carl and Jeanette Rhodes, and Andrew and Barbara Prabola. He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughters, Isabella, and Rowan; mother, Jude Simon; former step-father Joseph Simon; sisters, Jami Brown, Sare Rhodes, Brianne Herron, and Talia Simon; brothers, Cale Lohmann and Jacob Simon; aunt/godmother Cindy Richwalkski; cousin/goddaughter Grace Richwalski; and godfather Gary Kostrobola.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
