Dan T. Greer, 79, of Gallatin Gateway, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014. On August 10, 1935, an unusual, one of a kind child was born to William and Helen (Pennell) Greer in Columbus, Ohio. They named him Dan. Dan grew up in Columbus and joined the Navy in the mid 1950's. In the fall of 1958 he went to Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana on a football scholarship and graduated in the spring of 1963 with a BA in Art and some would say a BS in BS. He travelled all around the world several times but his home was always Bozeman. To Dan everyone was, 'Podner, Gov'nor, or Princess'. He loved women, children, and animals and was a great friend. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Herman E. Greer, James L. Greer, William E. Greer Jr., and Charles Greer. He is survived by his brother; Donald R. (Rose) Greer, sisters; Marilyn Seel, Helen K. Ancona, Patty Ann Keefer, his nephew; Phillip Farmer, many other nieces and nephews, and his two special friends; Jack Cameron and Phil Schneider. Those of us who had the privilege to know this strong, compassionate, and passionate man will miss him very much. Dan’s family and friends wish to thank the staff at Spring Creek Inn, especially Maree who doted on him, Mary Beth from the Veteran’s Administration, Rocky Mountain Hospice and First Choice Home Health Care. There will be a reception to celebrate Dan's life on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00PM at the Elk's Lodge at 205 Haggerty Lane in Bozeman. Memorial contributions in Dan’s name may be made to the MSU Bobcat Club, PO Box 173270, Bozeman, MT 59717. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.dahlcares.com.
