CHARLES RAY FOX Charles R. Fox died Monday afternoon, October 13, 2008, at Highgate Senior Living at the age of 91. Born in Lexington, OH.. Sept.. 23, 1917 to John Fox and Arinda Fogle, he finished High School and attended 2 years of college in Columbus, studing accounting. He met Dorothy Marquis in Pasadena, Calif., and they married on September 6, 1944 in Bozeman. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Charles was drafted into the Army Air Corps, became a Commissioned officer and Bombardier on a Boeing B-29 Superfortress Bomber. While stationed in the South Pacific islands, Charles flew 31 missions mostly dropping bombs on Japan until War#8217;s end. Even in his later years, he remembered and talked about those experiences in vivid detail. Until 2005, Charles also attended many of his annual B-29 Squadron reunions. Charles was a member and served in various capacities in Camera Club, Garden Club, Presbyterian Church, M-Bar Investments and Gallatin Sheep Association. Charles was very busy with his own photography business developing film and duplicating slides for many years. He retired from the Business Office at Montana State University in 1982. Charles was always willing to help anyone he could. He was a family man and enjoyed picnicking and hiking in the Hyalite and Gallatin Canyon areas. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling in their Holiday Rambler. Charles was well liked and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends He was preceded by his wife Dorothy in 1995. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Lynne (Mrs. Bob) McCormick of Stevensville, and Joyce Elaine (Mrs. John) Statton of Lynnwood, WA.; granddaughter Debbie (Mrs. Mike) Donaty, great granddaughter Katelyn, of Camano Island, WA; grandsons James #8220;Mark#8221; Parmly of Newburg, OR, Chris (Erin) Statton, great grandson Andrew of Mulkiteo, WA, and Jeff Statton of Monroe, WA; sisters, EllaJane Fry of Belleville, OH., Opal Hurst of IL; brother- in-law Donald R. #8220;Jack#8221; Marquis (Bonnie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside memorial at Sunset Cemetery. A procession will be leaving from Dahl Funeral Home to the gravesite.
