Carolyn "Carrie" Morgan

June 16, 1933 — November 27, 2015

Carolyn “Carrie” Morgan, 82, of Bozeman, prepared, served and enjoyed her 62nd Thanksgiving dinner with her family at the ranch and passed away a few hours later, early Friday morning, November 27, 2015. She was born June 16, 1933 in Bozeman to James D. and Florence Ione (Blackwood) Walker.

Carrie rode her horse to Elk Grove School from 1st to 8th Grade, graduated from Gallatin High, started college in Missoula, but Carrie wised up and returned to Montana State College in Bozeman.

Carrie married Richard Morgan on June 4, 1953 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Together they raised their family and ranched at the north end of the Bridger Mountains. She had been a rancher’s wife for 60 years.

Carrie spent her entire life in the Gallatin Valley. She was raised on her family's farm on Blackwood Road. She spent much time with her close extended family, the Blackwood, Sime and Walker families.

Hunting seasons also brought close friends, the Egelands, to the ranch. There were lots of card games, laughter and sometimes an elk or two. As a rancher’s wife, she embraced all that that entailed, raising their 3 children and helping her husband run the ranch.

Her contributions to the community were many. Carrie had been an election judge for 51 years; she was a member of Gallatin Cattlewomen’s Association, and a member of the Sons and Daughters of the Gallatin Pioneers.

She enjoyed her North Country Bridge Club, the "town" bridge club, the Menard Women’s Bucket Brigade, hunting, riding horses and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Carrie was preceded in death by: her parents Jim and Onie Walker; brother Gerb and her husband Dick. She is survived by: children Marilee (Doug) Langohr, Wade, and Craig, grandchildren Rachel and Nolan (Meghan) and great granddaughter Avery.

Vigil service at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish. Interment of her urn will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Morgan Cemetery.
