Barbara Zink, 81, of Bozeman passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010. Barbara was born in Pleschnitz, Czechoslovakia on January 28, 1929 to Joseph and Marguerita (Sackel) Kulhanek. In 1945, at the age of 15, she escaped from the Russians to West Germany. It was there she met and married a United States soldier. The couple moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and later divorced. In 1959, she met Ken Zink. The two were married on May 8, 1960 in Sheridan, where they made their home. In 1964, Ken was transferred with Montgomery Ward to Bozeman. Barbara worked as a bakery clerk at Safeway for 17 years. She was known by the high school students as the #8220;Pizza Bread Lady#8221;. She retired in 1986. Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Zink, in 1980. Survivors include her husband, Ken; children, Shirley Stratman, Amelia Rolf, Doris (Larry) Johnson, Zudie Zink, William K. Zink Jr., and Gene (Tayna) Zink; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many siblings, nieces, and nephews in Germany. Interment of the urn will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara#8217;s name may be made to Hospice c/o Bozeman Deaconess Foundation, 931 Highland Blvd Ste. 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715.
