Barbara E Arpin

Barbara E. Arpin passed away peacefully with family at her side Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the age of 93. Barbara was born February 11, 1925 to Nellie and Arthur Klingler in Harlem, Montana. She had four sisters, Helen, Bernice, Thelma Ann and Arline and one brother, Russell. She and her siblings were raised on her family’s ranch in Savoy, Montana. She helped with the ranching operations, herding cattle horseback, milking cows, running sheep (with her favorite stock dog, Shep) and raising potatoes. After graduating from the Harlem high school in 1943 she moved to Bozeman. She graduated from the Montana State College school of nursing in 1946 and began her long career as a registered nurse. On February 1, 1948 she married Robert D. Arpin and started their family in Bozeman. Barbara later worked for MSU but maintained her nurse’s license until 2016. She also remained active in the community, frequently volunteering for the Senior Center. She loved to travel, and her adventures included the US, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Barbara is survived by her children, Bonnie Beyl (the late Bill Beyl), Bill (Jenny) Arpin and Bernice Vandegrift (Corey Hughes); grandchildren, Shaun Beyl, Shannon Poole, Cole Arpin, Samantha Arpin; great-grandchildren, Bryn Beyl, Christian Poole, Laur’en Poole; her sister Helen Christensen; sister-in-law Helen Klingler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
