Barbara #8220;Bobbie#8221; Jane Sprock, 80, of Bozeman, Montana passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Bobbie was born on September 19, 1928 in Pittsford, Vermont to Clinton and Clara (Clifford) Pratt. She attended Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island on a basketball scholarship, graduating with a degree from the School of Secretarial Science. Bobbie was the team captain of the Bryant College women's basketball team. She married the love of her life, Vernon Sprock, on October 28, 1950 in San Francisco, California. Bobbie, along with her husband, Vernon, owned and operated the ski resort Sierra Ski Ranch in South Lake Tahoe, California for forty years. Many Tahoe residents remember Bobbie as the voice on the radio as each morning she would personally call in the snow and ski report. Bobbie was also a weather observer and reported the weather conditions for Echo Summit each day to the National Weather Service. During that time period she recorded many record snowfall amounts. After Bobbie retired from the ski business, she enjoyed volunteering at the Tahoe Community Church Food Pantry. Later Bobbie moved to Montana where she and her husband owned and operated the V B Ranch in Wilsall. She attended Kirkwood Baptist Church. Bobbie was always a hard worker, but she also loved to read and bake. Above all else, she loved her family. Bobbie touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Vernon Sprock of Bozeman, Montana; children, Kathy (Robert) Pavich, and Peter (Juli) Sprock; grandchildren, Christopher Pavich, and Ty Sprock, all of Zephyr Cove, NV, Richard (Holly) Pettay; three great-grandchildren of Carson City, NV; and brother Clinton Pratt of Proctor, VT. In lieu of flowers, the Bobbie Sprock Memorial Scholarship Fund has been created for the benefit of athletes through Far West Skiing, Inc., a 501 3c non-profit organization. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Kirkwood Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
