Barbara Ann Brooks

Barbara Ann Brooks, 76, passed away on October 2nd, 2016 in Bozeman, Montana. She was born January 7th, 1940 in Missoula, Montana to James and Isabelle (Spitzer) Brown. She graduated from high school in Missoula and worked as a supervisor at Safeway in Bozeman for many years.

Barbara was involved with the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Sisterhood Chapter F in Bozeman, and was an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 14, as well as participated with the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed reading, volunteering at the Pioneer Museum, and spent many years enjoying time with her bridge group. Most of all, Barbara loved spending time with friends and family, particularly at Legion and Elks activities with her late husband, Gene. She and Gene married in October of 1969. They were loyal and devoted to each other

She was recently preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene and her parents, James and Isabelle Brown.

She is survived by brother James (Barbara) Brown of Spokane, Washington; nieces Natalie Brown and Shaunna Swegel; nephews Ryan (Lindsay) Brown, and (great nephew) Ryley Brown, and two great nieces Payton and Ashley Swegel. Barbara was also close to Gene’s family, Gene’s sister Mae Tootell, of Saco Montana, nieces and nephews: Bitsy (Junior) DeGidio, James “Bud” Murphy, Don Murphy, Tim Murphy, June (Bob) Schweitzer, Shirley van Dyken, Jason Brooks, Bobbi (Russell) Menge, and Don Tootell along with many grand-nieces and nephews, and many great grand nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made in her name to Bozeman Health Foundation at 931 Highland Blvd # 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Bozeman, MT. Interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
