Alice Glenn Johnson was born on August 11, 1920 in Wilsall, MT. She moved to Bozeman at the start of the Fourth grade. Following her graduation from Gallatin County High school in 1938, Alice took a beauty course and worked at the Baxter Hotel fountain. She graduated in 1938. In 1939 she moved to Everett, WA and worked at a fountain there as well. She was married to William H. Johnson in 1940. During WWII Alice worked as a riveter at Boeing in Seattle. Upon returning to Bozeman in 1944, she did grocery store work. During the years of 1948-49 Alice worked part time at Montana State University and then full time in 1950. Alice was one of the first people to start in the Montana State University IBM office where she did data processing and continued to work there until her retirement in 1982. Alice spent the majority of her life in Bozeman, living at 1008 South Willson for 66 years. Alice was a member of the VFW auxiliary, American Legion auxiliary and the Elks Club. She loved to cook, crochet, and also enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends. Alice always extended a happy welcome and invitation to share a home cooked meal or give a gift of homemade candy to many visitors who stopped by, many times it was Almond Roca or Tamales. She was always willing to support the needs of others. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters Evelyn and Mildred. Survivors include: her sons Jon (Jan) Johnson of Bozeman and Tom (Lynn) Johnson of Brighton, CO; her grandchildren Carmen (Ray) Kniss of Brighton, CO, Julie (Jim) McNally of Chesapeake, VA, Tory Johnson of Brighton, CO, Brock Johnson of Brighton, CO, Brandi (JT) Jones of Boise, ID and Stacee Johnson of Boulder, CO; her 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM the night before the service as well as 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, September 16, 2010, 11:00 am at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorials in Alice#8217;s name can be made to the William H. Johnson American Legion Worthy Student Scholarship Fund, 205 N. 11th Ave. Bozeman, MT 59715.
