Alice Agnes Putman, 91, of Belgrade, Montana, passed away January 20, 2016. She was born May 30, 1924 in Yreka, California to John and Agnes Nunes.
Alice graduated from Nursing School and practiced as a nurse for 50 years from 1940 to 1990, including over 30 years at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. She was a compassionate nurse and a liaison between nurses and doctors. She married Virgil "Sarge" Putman on August 6, 1951 and they moved to Bozeman in 1966. She was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. She and Sarge travelled in their RV, driving the Alcan Highway and visiting family. After Sarge passed away Alice learned to love her independence. She enjoyed puzzles and reading.
She was cared for and loved in her final days at Open Arms assisted living in Belgrade. The owners and staff went above and beyond to give her the best care she ever received.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, her brother; Tim Nunes and sisters; Barbara Hoover and Mary Brower. She is survived by her son; John (Cat) Putman, of Bozeman, grandchildren; Stefan, Hansen and Reece Hansen, great-granddaughter ; Ava Hansen, brothers; Paul Nunes of Clovis, California, Bob (Rita) Nunes of Roseberg, Oregon and Mike (Diane) Nunes of Palmdale, California, and close family friend; Chris Ballinger.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to: Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, 1549 East Cameron Bridge Road, Belgrade, MT 59714.
